Accosted at the Library

This happened a few months back, but seeing the crazy homeless guys again made me think it was a good idea to re-post this:

So, I went to the Mesa Library this morning to return some books for my mom. It started out as a normal library visit. I put the books in the return bin and proceeded to the SciFi section to search for more books for my mom. (She's reading Terry Prattchet's Discworld series and our pitiful gilbert library doesn't have jack!) So I picked out the next few books she wanted and walked around the other side of the shelves to look for anything I might want. Not seeing anything, I walked back around to where I picked out her books and started looking for something interesting. As I'm looking I pass this guy sitting in a chair in front of the shelves. He was clearly a homeless person. (They tend to frequent the library in the summer 'cause no one bothers them as long as they don't bother anyone.) I didn't think anything of him and continued to look for a book. Then, out of no where I hear "Are there spies in Mesa?" I turned around to see this guy now looking at me. "Spies? No. There aren't any spies in Mesa" I said. I kinda laughed and turned back around to the shelves. Then he says, "Yeah. They get paid to spy on you, you know. And to spy on each other." At this point I'm really trying not to laugh 'cause I don't want to upset the crazy homeless guy. I said "ok" but thought 'ok, time to move away from the crazy person'. I walked away from him with out incident. I was only slightly worried that he might start following me, as crazy people tend to do that once they start talking to you. I couldn't help but laugh as I left. That was probably the most random thing a stranger has ever said to me. I am still amused! So if you go to the Mesa Library beware of the crazy homeless guy (I'm sure there's more than one). More importantly, if you go to Mesa beware of the spies! They get paid to watch you!
